چکیده

The author determines for arbitrarily varying channels a) the average error capacity and b) the maximal error capacity in case of randomized encoding. A formula for the average error capacity in case of randomized encoding was announced several years ago by Dobrushin ([3]). Under a mild regularity condition this formula turns out to be valid and follows as consequence from either a) or b). Since several articles have been written on this subject we begin right away with the mathematical notions needed. The reader not sufficiently familiar with the concepts used will find some heuristic explanations in the last Section. Let 3~ and gO be finite sets, which serve as input and output alphabets of the channels described below. Let S be an arbitrary set, and let ~={w(. I. Is): s~S} be a set of stochastic 13~1 x Igol-matrices. For every s"=(sl, ...,sn)eS"=[Is we 1 define transmission probabilities P(-I. Is n) by P(y'lx"ls")= ~I w(ytJx~lst) t=l n for all x"=(xl ..... x.)e~"=I-[~, 1 Y"=Yl .. Set ~n={p(. l" Is"): s"~Sn}. We call the sequence (g")2=1 an arbitrarily varying channel (AVC) and denote it by 96.

Gaussian arbitrarily varying channels

The arbitrarily varying channel (AVC) can be interpreted as a model of a channel jammed by an intelligent and unpredictable adversary. We investigate the asymptotic reliability of optimal random block codes on Gaussian arbitrarily varying channels (GAVC’s). A GAVC is a discrete-time memoryless Gaussian channel with input power constraint PT and noise power N,, which is further corrupted by an a...

On error exponents for arbitrarily varying channels

The minimum probability of error achievable by random codes on the arbitrarily varying channel (AVC) is investigated. New exponential error bounds are found and applied to the AVC with and without input and state constraints. Also considered is a simple subclass of random codes, called randomly modulated codes, in which encoding and decoding operations are separate from code randomization. A un...

Arbitrarily Varying and Compound Classical-Quantum Channels and a Note on Quantum Zero-Error Capacities

We consider compound as well as arbitrarily varying classical-quantum channel models. For classical-quantum compound channels, we give an elementary proof of the direct part of the coding theorem. A weak converse under average error criterion to this statement is also established. We use this result together with the robustification and elimination technique developed by Ahlswede in order to gi...

The Arbitrarily Varying Broadcast Channel with Degraded Message Sets with Causal Side Information at the Encoder

In this work, we study the arbitrarily varying broadcast channel (AVBC), when state information is available at the transmitter in a causal manner. We establish inner and outer bounds on both the random code capacity region and the deterministic code capacity region with degraded message sets. The capacity region is then determined for a class of channels satisfying a condition on the mutual in...
